Message from Principal Thompson

Dear Lakewood families,

This week has been a fun-filled week engaging our community in LOLA night and 1st grade performances. As we celebrate college week together, our students have enjoyed learning more about college and career-ready options and pathways. We are looking forward to continuing the learning together Friday for our celebration of World Down Syndrome day.

Next week we begin to dive into our planning for the 22-23 school year with our incoming Kindergarten Round-up. Thank you for your consistent support of our stallions and staff.

ATTN: DISD'S COVID CONTACT TRACING & QUARANTINE POLICY IS STILL IN PLACE

Though masks are now recommended, the policies for contact tracing and quarantining remain in place.

For anyone testing positive, the district will follow the five-day isolation period recommended by the CDC. If students display symptoms, we ask their families to keep them at home.

A student is deemed a close contact if they are NOT wearing a mask and is within 3 ft of a confirmed positive student/child who is also not wearing a mask, or within 6 ft. of a mask less adult who is confirmed positive.

In case of close contact (without masks) with someone who has tested positive:

    • If the student is unvaccinated, quarantine them at home for five days and contact their health care provider.
    • If the student is fully vaccinated and not displaying any symptoms, they can return to school and must remain masked at all times.

Below is the link and QR code for parents to submit their child’s proof of vaccination, deadline to submit March 31st:

  • Click HERE access the form
  • Sign in using the student ID number and date of birth
  • Fill out the required information, including your email (e-card will be sent to that email)
  • Upload an image of the proof of vaccination (card, IMMTrac2, document from medical provider)
  • Submit the form

Masks now RECOMMENDED

Below is the message that was sent to DISD parents and staff last week.

-----------------------------------------

"Dallas ISD has remained consistent with a mask protocol to help protect students, staff, and families from the COVID-19 virus – and its variants. Over the last month, the numbers have been encouraging as positive cases continue to decrease districtwide.

Effective on Monday, Feb. 28, masks will no longer be a requirement on district property, however, they will be recommended.

As you may have also heard, Dallas County recently transitioned to Level Orange. This additional measure gives us greater confidence to adjust some of our protocols. School visitors and volunteers will be allowed on a limited basis and masks are recommended while inside. Campuses will receive further guidance detailing the specifics on the specific updates.

Athletics events will still adhere to social distance practices where possible under the new mask recommendation. Cleaning and sanitizing protocols will remain in place. Additionally, campuses may continue to host co- and extra-curricular activities, competitions, or programs that for students to safely participate and engage.

The district continuously monitors data and local developments related to the health and safety of all and may consider other protocols, if needed. Thank you for your compliance this year, and Dallas ISD looks forward to returning to some sense of normalcy."
