The Lakewood Home Tour is This Weekend!

The 46th Annual Lakewood Home Tour is this weekend and back in person! 

Tickets will be available to purchase on location at each of the Tour homes during the event. The Tour will be open from 11am-5pm and 7-9:30pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday

You can begin the Tour at any of the six homes:

6630 Gaston Ave
7018 Wildgrove
6926 Westlake
7320 Lakewood Boulevard
6858 Avalon (bonus home only included on Candlelight Home Tour)

If you are interested in donating your time to the Home Tour, we still have volunteer opportunities available. Grab a friend and sign up for a shift to support the Lakewood Elementary School, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School!

Please check your student's hair for lice/knits. If there is known lice in the class your teacher will notify you. 

Monitor your child for signs of head lice that can include:

ï‚· Excessive itching of the scalp

ï‚· Live lice on the scalp and in hair

ï‚· Lice eggs (nits) in hair

The following measures may help prevent the spread of head lice:

ï‚· Do not share combs, brushes or other hair related items with others.

ï‚· Do not share hats, scarves or jackets with others.

ï‚· Avoid head to head or hair to hair contact during play or other activities at home, school and elsewhere.

1st Grade Performance

Attention, 1st Grade Parents! The 1st Grade Performance will be the evening of Thursday, November 17th in two sections based on your child's teacher, either at 5:30pm or 6:30pm. More information to come via grade level emails. Please note the General PTA Meeting will be at 6pm, in between the two performances, so plan to stay after or come early to hear what's going on and how to get involved.

  • Texas has the second highest rates of human trafficking (1 in 4) in the United States. The new curriculum is an effort to increase awareness and prevent human trafficking. The curriculum was developed by A21, a distinguished non-profit with programs to rescue and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking in 14 countries. https://www.a21.org/
  • The content and language are age-appropriate and serve as building blocks for long-term prevention of human trafficking. The word “trafficking” is not introduced until high school. 
  • Teachers can share lesson materials with parents as soon as they are made available. If you previously opted out and would like to change your response, please email your child’s homeroom teacher. For any additional questions, please reach out to Ms. Romines elromines@dallasisd.org.
Thanksgiving Pies for Lakewood Staff

We are so THANKFUL for our wonderful teachers and staff! Let's show them our appreciation by sending each teacher home with a yummy pie for their Thanksgiving Break! Sign up here

This year, the pies need to be store-bought please

2 options for drop off pies: 

1- Thursday afternoon (November 17, 2022) after 2:00pm on the porch of 6941 Dalhart Lane. There will be a cooler to put them in. 

2- Before School Friday, November 18, 2022. 7:30-8:00 am 

Volunteers will be collecting from the carpool line or you may drop them off at the table at the front of the school.
