NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
2023-2024 & 2024-2025 School Calendars

The Dallas ISD board of trustees approved the base 2023-2024 & 2024-2025 academic year calendars. Click here to read about the changes from this year, most notably:

August 9: First Day of School (Meet the Teacher date prior will be announced this month)

October 12-16: Fall Break (vs. individual Friday fair days)

Dec 25-Jan 9: Winter Break

May 23 2024: Last Day of School

We had a lot of interest in Lunch Bunch at the beginning of the year, but that has officially died down and we are in need of parent volunteers! Volunteers supervise the students in the cafeteria so the teachers don't have to; this is a critical role to give teachers back time to lesson plan and work.

Even if you haven't been to a training, we are opening it up to all parents to step in and take a shift. We have made one big change since Fall: shorter shifts:

10:15-12 for K-2 (6 spots)
11:45-1:30 3-5 (4 spots)

Sign Up Here for January!

We will be having another training in the cafeteria the week of 1/23 (date to be announced soon).

SB9 / A21 Education Curriculum Updates

Dear parents,

After further thought, review, and feedback, we’d like to take a bit of a different approach with the delivery of this curriculum this year. Instead of each classroom teacher delivering these lessons, our counselors, Princeton Cobb and Dana Booth, will be facilitating and delivering this content this year.  We believe this is approach will allow a more streamlined delivery of content and better ability to respond to any sensitive questions that may come up. Ms. Booth and Ms. Cobb will be delivering the content by grade level to students whose parents have opted in, in the auditorium during the week of February 13th. Students who have opted out will remain in their classrooms and continue enrichment curriculum, differentiated extension, or small group intervention work.

Please remember to opt-in or opt- out using this form: https://records.dallasisd.org/Forms/3-SB9OptIn. (Please note: to sign the form using a mobile device, the screen must be horizontal.) If you previously opted out and would like to change your response, please email your child’s homeroom teacher.

Thank you!

Principal Thompson

Spring Parent Conferences

Please be on the lookout for a message from your child's teacher(s) about the upcoming conferences. In these conferences, parents will receive the most recent assessment scores and information specific to your child related to his or her grade-level performance. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have specific questions.

PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year is moving closer to home! Save the date for April 22, 2023! Tickets go on sale March 1. Be on the lookout for more info in the coming weeks!

Applications are due Wednesday, February 1 and may be returned to the ‘Completed Applications’ folder on the TC Classroom bulletin board.

LOLA EDUCATION

Our nature-themed LOLA education classes will begin in February for our Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade classes.

We’d love for parent volunteers to help assist!

All volunteers MUST have an updated VOLY registration.

Check in at the front office and meet Lisa Dolliver (Dallas Arboretum) in the LOLA 5-10 minutes before your child's LOLA session starts for instruction. Volunteers may help with set up/clean up, take action photos, assist students with hands-on activities, etc.
