Dear Lakewood Community,

We are so excited to introduce you to our new campus Commissioned Security Officer, Officer Andrew Hutton. As a result of the most recent legislation, House Bill 3, Officer Hutton will be a full-time campus security officer as an added measure of campus security for our students, staff, and community. Officer Hutton graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. He recently developed a passion and talent for security during his tenure at Children’s Health Hospital, where he worked several years at the supervisory level.  As a child of two dedicated educators, he is married with three wonderful elementary-aged children and is excited to play a vital role in the safety of our great community.  His aim is to provide consistent support as a positive role model to help foster a safe and secure learning environment for all our stallions.

We are so proud to welcome him to the Lakewood family!

See full 2024-2025 school calendar here.

Join us for a LOLA Eclipse of the Heart at this year's LOLA NIGHT on March 21st, 5-7pm. All are welcome to this free, family event featuring nature exhibitors, food trucks, music, and more.

AND here are two ways to ensure your LOLA Night is out of this world: 1. Encourage your student to participate in the LOLA Project, 2. Volunteer to help make the night a success, sign-up here.

We can't wait to see you there!

Did you know? The date of 3/21 represents the genetic makeup of Down syndrome- three copies of chromosome 21, instead of two. The chromosomes resemble socks, and mis-matched socks also promote the beauty of differences.

Your Donations Make an Impact

Dear Lakewood Elementary Family,

In an effort to inform our amazing community about one of the great outcomes of your generous donations, we’d like to introduce the SEEDS program, funded by our collective funding groups this semester. With the addition of our SEEDS programming, our students have a safe place to work through day-to-day challenges that may arise. Thanks to your funding, the SEEDS program now provides additional support on our campus with a dedicated ‘reset’ space where, in collaboration with our campus administration and counseling team, they assist our students with a proactive approach to social and emotional learning and restorative practices. “SEEDS” stands for “Serve, Educate, and Empower Diverse Students”, and if you’d like to learn more about the SEEDS organization, see the following link www.seeds-info.org.  We are very thankful to our community at large (YOU!), who donates so generously to our organizations to provide these additional supports for our students.

Respectfully,

LECPTA

This competition will be open to all students!  Please encourage your students to participate (even if they did not attend many Math Maniacs classes).

More details on the Olympiad will follow after Spring Break.

PREVIOUSLY SHARED INFORMATION
Family Input Form for the 2024-2025 School Year Class Assignments
  • As we begin the process of looking ahead to creating well balanced classes for the 2024-2025 school year, we would like to streamline input provided by families through this formPlease know that we are not able to take specific teacher requests.

  • As we work through this process, we keep our Lakewood Vision at the forefront: We are a community of leaders, valued individuals and problem solvers, who advocate for all. Note this will be viewed and analyzed by the current Lakewood Staff . We ask that you refrain from any disparaging comments and remain focused on your student's needs.
  • This form will close at noon on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Lakewood's Best Buddies is partnering with Dallas ISD's Vision Department again this year! Each year our students make over 100 beeping eggs and put together easter baskets for every Visually Impaired student within Dallas ISD. Even more exciting for the second year in a row, our students have been invited to attend the Annual Beeping Egg Hunt and Sensory Day. Students will have the opportunity to host 3 sensory activity stations for students across the district. We are in need of a few supplies that can be found on our sign-up genius. All supplies are needed by March 19th.

1st grade: March is your month to keep our Lakewood staff fueled and energized throughout the day! While completely optional, please consider signing up to send in snacks and/or drinks through this link! Let’s show our support and school spirit as CLASS of 2035!

Also, THANK YOU 2nd grade for doing such a great job stocking the workroom in February.

Woodrow Dance Booster Club's Egg My Yard is back! We'd love for our feeder pattern schools to participate! Not only would we love for your schools' families to sign up to be egged, we need volunteers (and candy. LOTS of candy). Here is the Amazon wish list, Sign Up Genius, and order form. Woodrow is so special for having school spirit and family involvement, and it all starts with our feeder schools ♥️

Thank you,

Monica Jackson (214.755.4464 for any questions)
