In case you missed it!  Message sent August 26, 2024:

Hello Lakewood Stallion Families!

I am honored and excited to serve as this year’s Lakewood Elementary PTA President. The PTA Board held its first meeting on Thursday and is already working hard to provide impactful programs for our students and teachers this year!

We are focused on helping students succeed through educational enrichment, hosting fun and memorable school experiences and providing resources to the school that may not be available through the school district.

Here are a few things the PTA is working on:

  • Communications: eNews, Marquee, Social Media, Website, Yearbook

  • Ways & Means: House Party, Spirit Wear, Stallion Strong Family Giving Campaign

  • Student Life: Dual Language, Field Trips, Stallion Store Incentives, Fall Fest, Family Movie Night

  • Staff Appreciation: Staff Meals, Room Reps, Secret Pals, Lunch Bunch

  • Facilities: LOLA, Campus Beautification, Garden, Lost & Found

  • Community Outreach: New Family Orientation, Feeder Pattern Support, School Tours

  • Teacher Wishlist Fulfillment

I would like to personally invite you to become a PTA member for the 2024-2025 school year. Memberships for this school year opened in August and are available now!

Joining the PTA does not obligate you to attend PTA meetings or volunteer at school; it does show that you support critical programs, like the ones listed above, that help make Lakewood shine!

It also gives you the opportunity to vote on how the PTA uses fundraising dollars, gets you access to the online school directory, and makes you eligible for discounts that are available to Texas PTA members.

Our goal is to have 500 PTA members by the end of the week, and you can help us reach that goal!  There are options for parents ($10 each), students ($5 each), staff ($5 each) and community members ($10 each).

Please take a moment to become a Lakewood PTA member here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email Chelsea Bailey (Membership Chair) or me directly.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Caitlin Maddox

The GT nomination window closes on September 6.

Gifted & Talented
CAR TAGS

If you are new to Lakewood or have misplaced your car tag from last year, please email Mrs. Nowakowski at Brmckinney@dallasisd.org with your student's name and homeroom.

All Kindergarten students received their car tag on Tuesday with directions for how to label.

Students can wear spirit shirts or "dress your best" attire for pictures.

Support Lakewood Dreams by being a Family & Friends Sponsor of LECPTA's Annual Auction Party (Nov. 8). This year, we are excited to offer three different levels of support. The first five Family & Friend Sponsors will receive a special thank you gift!

Lunch Buddies Update for the 2024-2025 School Year!
  • Lunch Buddies is a chance for a parent to join their child for lunch once a semester. After classes are set, PTA will circulate a Sign-Up Genius for parents to claim their date!
  • NEW! For Fall of 2024, Lunch Buddies will occur every Wednesday from September 4, 2024 - December 4, 2024.
  • NEW! Lunch Buddies will only happen on Wednesdays in the Fall, rather than five days a week, but each grade will NOT have an assigned month like last year, so parents can pick a date across the entire semester. There will be two spots for your class each Wednesday.
  • Parents are asked to limit their lunch visit/sign-up to one guest per semester.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Lunch Buddies is not the same as Lunch Bunch. Lunch Bunch parents volunteer to help teachers oversee and clean the cafeteria. Two Lunch Bunch volunteers for each section (K-2 and 3-5) are needed EVERY DAY to help lunch run smoothly and allow teachers a much-deserved break

Rehearsals will take place Mondays and Tuesdays until 4:45pm. “Into the Woods” performances will be May 7th & 8th.

Best Buddies is a 501(c)(3) organization that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendship, leadership development and integrated employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). At the elementary level, Best Buddies offers a rich and diverse way to teach awareness, integrate students with disabilities with their peers and nurture genuine friendships of all abilities. The goal of the Best Buddies Elementary program is to introduce opportunities for peers with and without disabilities to learn, play, and grow together.

We look forward to seeing everyone and are excited for the Best Buddies program to continue at Lakewood, to create a more inclusive and accepting school and community that acknowledges and values all abilities.
