Hello Lakewood Families!

First off, thank you to everyone who has joined PTA for the 2024-2025 school year. We added more than 500 members last week!

On behalf of the PTA Board, THANK YOU for showing your support of the many programs, events and enrichment that Lakewood PTA brings to Lakewood Elementary.

If you or your spouse haven’t had a chance to join, please take a moment to become a Lakewood PTA Member here.

And now, for the star of this week’s show…Stallion Strong kicks off today! We are so excited to share the PTA Fundraising Dollars at Work graphic below — it showcases all the ways our PTA fundraisers impact the school.

See below for more info on this year’s Stallion Strong campaign, and head over to the website to donate now!

While you’re on the website, don’t miss the Spirit Store's restock and sale – available online only with delivery straight to your student. Can’t beat it.

Plenty more to know from eNews below. I’ll let you get to it!

All the best,

Caitlin Maddox

The 2024-2025 PTA operating budget depends on multiple fundraising efforts throughout the year... all made possible by our special community! The Stallion Strong Family Giving Campaign is our biggest fundraiser of the fall and makes the above programs, curriculum and experiences possible for our children. All you have to do is make a quick donation online and you're done!

The recommended amount is $150 per student that you have at Lakewood, but we strive for 100% participation at ANY giving level. New this year is a custom Lakewood Elementary movie night picnic blanket available at the $500 level and ONLY through Stallion Strong (pro tip: donations from extended family and friends will roll up towards your total to get this!).

A Note from School Administration

We’ve noticed an increase in students not in uniform or following dress code policy. To help keep everyone on track, we want to share a few key reminders about the dress code. Parents and guardians may read Lakewood's full uniform and dress code policy here

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring our students follow the dress code guidelines. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Attention Bus Riders

Please read the BUS EXPECTATIONS and complete the acknowledgement form.  Thank you!

Thank you for the continued support of the Best Buddies program at LWE! We had a great showing of students last Friday morning.

Students in 2nd-5th grade may apply to be apart of the program, even if they were unable to attend the informational. Applications can be found outside Rm 212 on the bulletin board or linked here. Please read the PARENT LETTER for more information and access the APPLICATION HERE

If you have any questions please email BEST BUDDIES.

Completed applications must be returned to the folder outside of Rm 212 by SEPTEMBER 13TH.

PLEASE NOTE: Lunch BUNCH is NOT the same as Lunch BUDDIES

Lunch BUNCH parents volunteer to help teachers oversee and clean the cafeteria. Two Lunch Bunch volunteers for each section (K-2 and 3-5) are needed EVERY DAY to help lunch run smoothly and allow teachers a much-deserved break.

**Please note NEW LOCATION**

Lakewood is excited to announce that we will again have the SEEDS program on our campus for the 2024-2025 school year as an added academic, social, and emotional support for all students. The SEEDS program will provide various needed services to our campus including a calming space with emotional support when students are faced with big emotions, small group support for building specific skills, teacher and parent education, wellness events and more. The SEEDS program on our campus is open to ALL students. There are times in every child’s life where a little extra support is needed for academic success, and that is where SEEDS fits into our puzzle here at Lakewood.

Please note that if your student is chosen to participate in an ongoing small group, additional information will be given, and permission obtained before student participation. If you would like to opt your student out of the SEEDS program, please fill out this form. Filling out this form means that your student will not have access to the SEEDS calming space and will not participate in SEEDS wellness programming. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your grade-level counselor.

LOLA After School

We are looking for parent volunteers to help with "LOLA After School". We will plan activities and bring supplies.  All you need to do is show up and have fun with the kiddos! Sign up here for "LOLA After School" throughout the year. Thank you!

Welcome back to LOLA!

Our nature-themed LOLA education classes will begin in September for 3rd and 4th grade classes.  We’d love for parent volunteers to help assist!  All volunteers MUST have an updated VOLY registration.

Check in at the front office and meet Lisa Dolliver (Dallas Arboretum) in LOLA 5-10 minutes before your child's LOLA session starts for instruction. Volunteers may help with set up/clean up, take action photos, assist students with hands-on activities, etc.
