Hi Stallion families,

With Fall Break behind us, and fall temps in the air, it could only mean one thing… Lakewood FALL FEST is here!!

We’ll see you on Sunday from 2-6pm for LWE's biggest family event of the year. The forecast is locked in and the weather will be GLORIOUS!

See below or visit the Fall Fest page for more information - including attractions, Cake Walk donation slots, open Volunteer Shifts, and more.  Please find a way to pitch in!

Speaking of, huge thanks to PTA’s 17-member Fall Fest Committee for bringing this event to life from soup to nuts. You're the pick of the pumpkin patch.

Fall Fest would also not be possible without our generous sponsors, who you can find listed below. Please join me in thanking them!

Last but not least, FOL's Fall Ball -- this year's Mother/Son Dance -- is tomorrow night! Tickets are still available here!  Grab your little guy while you still can and jump in on the fun!

Let the gourd times roll,

Caitlin Maddox

FALL FEST IS THIS SUNDAY, 2-6 PM!

Don’t forget to send your kids to school in their Fall Fest t-shirts TOMORROW, October 18th, for a special Fall Fest Spirit Day!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need YOU! There are still several volunteer slots we need to fill to make this event a success. Please consider donating a couple hours of your time to help! Feel free to invite older siblings, middle school/high school kids, or share with your fellow volunteer groups.  Sign up to lend a helping hand! The FOL Haunted House also needs several spooky volunteers!

CAKE WALK DONATIONS DUE TOMORROW

Help stock the beloved Cake Walk by donating a pre-packaged, store-bought dessert—think cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, or cookie cakes! Drop off your sweet treats on Friday, October 18th at school drop-off or pick-up.  Click here to sign up.  Too busy to shop? Simply venmo any amount to @themomsomm and we’ll do the hard work for you!

STILL NEED TICKETS?

No problem! If you missed the deadline for classroom delivery, wristbands will still be available for purchase at the event. Entry is $5 for all children ages 3-17 and includes access to unlimited rides, games, and fun!

Lakewood Site Based Decision Making Committee (SBDM)

TONIGHT, our Lakewood Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) will meet for our first open meeting of the 2024-2025 school year.

What is the SBDM? As outlined in Texas Law and Dallas ISD policy, the SBDM is a committee  comprised of teachers, parents, and community members. The committee advises school leadership on decision-making related to the academic achievement and positive social development of all students.

Our SBDM focuses on topics related to school wide-goals, curriculum, social-emotional well-being, facilities, and security – all in service of Lakewood Elementary’s campus goals and vision.

Why attend? If you are interested in hearing regular updates on any of the topics related above, feel free to join us at our meeting TONIGHTOctober 17th at 5pm in the Library or at any of the open meetings this year.

All scheduled meetings and minutes and can be found at our website.

What if I have a topic of discussion for the SBDM? If you have a topic for discussion, we encourage you to communicate with a member of the school faculty or leadership team directly. If you have questions related to the functioning of the SBDM, you can email sbdm@lakewoodelementary.net.

Parent Conferences

Parent conferences will be held the week of October 21st.  More information will be coming from your teacher about how to sign up this week.  Teachers may request zoom or in person conferences.
