Dear Lakewood Families,

I want to start by extending a grateful thank you to our incredible parent volunteers who made this year’s Fall Fest a huge success. The community turnout was wonderful, and it was truly special to see so many families enjoying the event together. Your support and dedication have such a positive impact on our school, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

This evening, we are excited to showcase our second-grade students in their much-anticipated performance. These students have been working so hard, and we are eager to celebrate their hard work and talent with you tonight.

As we wrap up the first quarter of the year, I’m proud of the progress our students have made even as we face some twists and turns along the way. From academics to social-emotional growth, our students have shown great resilience and dedication to their learning. It has been encouraging to see them push forward and continue building their skills.

I also want to acknowledge the recent staffing changes and leadership shifts that have taken place. We are doing our best to ensure these transitions are as smooth as possible and remain committed to improving communication throughout this process. Your continued understanding and support are greatly appreciated as we work to strengthen our systems and serve our school community effectively.

To make communication easier, we’ve provided a contact organization chart below and linked here, outlining key points of contact within the school. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or feedback.

Thank you again for your continued support of our school. Together, we will continue to grow and improve, ensuring the best possible experience for our students!

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

***TONIGHT***
General PTA Meeting TONIGHT, Thursday, 10/24 @ 5:45 pm

All are welcome to join us in the auditorium TONIGHT for a brief PTA meeting in between the 2nd grade performances. If you missed last month's meeting, the meeting notes can be found here

Lakewood Elementary invites you to join us in celebrating Día de los Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday honoring the lives of passed loved ones.

Beginning TOMORROW, we encourage students and staff to bring a framed 4x6 picture of a loved one who has passed away. These photos will be placed on our ofrenda (altar) to remember and celebrate those we’ve lost. Please write your student’s name and class section on the back of the photo.

This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and honor the memory of those who came before us. We look forward to seeing your contributions and sharing in this special tradition with you!

We are proud to honor Teddy Heape for his bravery and courage in his journey to fight medulloblastoma. This Lakewood kindergartener had brain surgery in December 2023, radiation in the spring of 2024, and recently completed chemotherapy a few weeks ago. He has 2 brothers that attend Lakewood - Henry in third grade, and twin brother George in kindergarten. His family has been a true inspiration and we are glad to support their fight!

On Friday, November 15th, please wear a blue shirt or a Team Teddy shirt to show our support as a whole school. There is still time to order a Team Teddy shirt or hat through midnight Friday 10/25. Proceeds will benefit the family and a local Lakewood porch pick will be available.
