Welcome Back to a Bright New Year at Lakewood!

Dear Lakewood Families,

Happy New Year and welcome back to an exciting second semester at Lakewood Elementary! I hope your holidays were filled with rest, joy, and special moments with loved ones.

As we step into this new year, our theme, “One Team, One Dream,” continues to guide us. Together—students, staff, and families—we’ve built a strong foundation in the first half of the year, and I’m confident that the second semester will be filled with growth, achievement, and meaningful connections.

We also have so much to celebrate! Our recent iReady assessments showed tremendous growth—our students doubled their progress in reading and made significant gains in math from the beginning of the year to the middle of the year. Additionally, our 5th-grade leaders knocked their Science ACP out of the park, showing dedication, focus, and excellence in their performance.

In addition to academic achievements, we are also seeing progress in campus safety improvements. Dallas ISD is ahead of schedule with campus security upgrades. Families may have noticed fence installation underway in the back part of our school. These enhancements include new fencing between the playground and parking lot and around the parking lot at the front of the school. These updates are part of an ongoing effort to ensure a safe and secure environment for all our students and staff.

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. It’s an honor to lead this incredible community, and I’m excited to see all we’ll accomplish together in 2025.

Here’s to a fantastic second semester, where we keep cheering each other on and working together as One Team with One Dream!

Reminder: NO SCHOOL tomorrow due to inclement weather
An important reminder about DROP OFF PROCEDURES from LWE Administration

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At Lakewood Elementary School, student safety is our top priority. Recently, we have observed several students playing outside or on the playground without adult supervision during the morning drop-off period. This presents significant safety concerns, as all students must be supervised at all times while on campus.

We kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure a safe environment for all students:

Supervision During Drop-Off

  • Please note that staff are not on duty to supervise students until 7:30 AM. Until that time, our aides are assisting bus riders by getting students off the bus and to the cafeteria.
  • If you prefer your child to play on the playground before school starts, we ask that you remain with them to provide supervision. Students should not be left unattended outside or on the playground at any time.
  • Starting at 7:30 AM, we will have flexibility to assign aides to the sports court, and at 7:40 AM, additional staff (Campbell and Wright) will be available to provide supervision.

Cafeteria and Bus Riders

  • Students who take the bus to school should go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. The cafeteria is a safe and supervised area where they can wait until school begins.
  • For students who are dropped off at the front of the school before 7:30 AM, please ensure they proceed directly to the cafeteria for supervision. Unfortunately, we do not have staff available to supervise the front drop-off area before this time.

These steps are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students. Thank you for working with us to provide a secure and structured environment for everyone in our school community.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please feel free to contact the school office. We appreciate your understanding and support in prioritizing safety for all.

CRC Update

All doctor's notes and excuse notes should be sent to lakewoodattendance@dallasisd.org. If an attendance note is sent to the Lakewood attendance email it does not also have to be brought into the front office.

All records requests and report card requests will be done within 24-48 hours and can be sent to either Ms. Perez (A-L) or Ms. Herrera (M-Z) depending on last name.
