Dear Lakewood Families,

I hope this message finds you well! As we dive into the second semester, I’m excited to share some of the wonderful accomplishments at Lakewood Elementary.

Our students are thriving! Recent iReady assessments showed remarkable growth: K-5 Math scores improved from 18% to 48% on or above grade level, and K-5 Reading scores doubled from 30% to 62%. In 5th-grade Science, 90% of students met grade level, with 70% mastering the material on their semester exam (ACP)—a 30% increase from last year’s STAAR results! Their hard work is truly paying off.

Our teachers recently gathered for a productive professional development day, where they focused on analyzing student data, refining small group instruction, and strengthening SEL strategies to build student self- efficacy and confidence. With Parent-Teacher Conferences just around the corner, let’s send our teachers some extra encouragement—they’re working hard to make every meeting meaningful.

Thank you for your continued support as we move forward together as One Team, One Dream. I’m so proud of what we’re accomplishing together and look forward to the amazing growth ahead.

An important reminder about DROP OFF PROCEDURES from LWE Administration

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At Lakewood Elementary School, student safety is our top priority. Recently, we have observed several students playing outside or on the playground without adult supervision during the morning drop-off period. This presents significant safety concerns, as all students must be supervised at all times while on campus.

We kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure a safe environment for all students:

Supervision During Drop-Off

  • Please note that staff are not on duty to supervise students until 7:30 AM. Until that time, our aides are assisting bus riders by getting students off the bus and to the cafeteria.
  • If you prefer your child to play on the playground before school starts, we ask that you remain with them to provide supervision. Students should not be left unattended outside or on the playground at any time.
  • Starting at 7:30 AM, we will have flexibility to assign aides to the sports court, and at 7:40 AM, additional staff (Campbell and Wright) will be available to provide supervision.

Cafeteria and Bus Riders

  • Students who take the bus to school should go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. The cafeteria is a safe and supervised area where they can wait until school begins.
  • For students who are dropped off at the front of the school before 7:30 AM, please ensure they proceed directly to the cafeteria for supervision. Unfortunately, we do not have staff available to supervise the front drop-off area before this time.

These steps are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students. Thank you for working with us to provide a secure and structured environment for everyone in our school community.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please feel free to contact the school office. We appreciate your understanding and support in prioritizing safety for all.

CRC Update

All doctor's notes and excuse notes should be sent to lakewoodattendance@dallasisd.org. If an attendance note is sent to the Lakewood attendance email it does not also have to be brought into the front office.

All records requests and report card requests will be done within 24-48 hours and can be sent to either Ms. Perez (A-L) or Ms. Herrera (M-Z) depending on last name.
