Hi Lakewood Families,

I hope your new year is off to a happy and healthy start!  As we kick off the spring semester, the PTA is excited to support our students and staff members through the final stretch of the school year.

Many of our committees shine brightest in Spring, and are already hard at work – like Yearbook, LOLA, Staff Appreciation, Lost & Found, Spirit Wear, and of course... House Party!

Make sure you save the date for Lakewood House Party on Saturday, April 26th – our biggest fundraiser of the year.  See below for venue announcement!

This fun, casual event is full of good vibes and helps us fund student enrichment and teacher appreciation programs.  Tickets go on sale Friday, February 28th. Don’t miss out!

In the meantime, we’re looking for sponsors!  House Party sponsors support vital programs for our school, and will receive logo recognition throughout promotional materials (i.e signage, eNews and social media), as well as tickets to the event. More info here!

The committee is also looking for donations to the silent auction – think pro sports tickets, donated services, vacation stays, gift certificates, you name it. Donate here!

All sponsorships and donations are tax deductible and support Lakewood students and staff.

Volunteer Opportunities

We always need extra hands to make our events a success – Lunch Bunch, LOLA, Stock the Teacher Workroom and more. Please check our volunteer page for opportunities!

Interested in getting more involved with PTA next year? Self-nominations are starting soon! Email vp@lakewoodelementary.net to learn more.

Thank you for your continued support of Lakewood PTA – Let's Finish Strong!

Best regards,

Caitlin Maddox

Cold Weather, Carpool Lines, and Tardy Slips oh my!

A friendly reminder to allow yourselves a little extra time for carpool on these chilly mornings!  A few less Stallions are walking to school in these frigid temps, so the carpool lines are longer and take more time.

School begins at 8:00 am and tardy slips are issued at 8:05 am.

An important reminder about DROP OFF PROCEDURES from LWE Administration

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At Lakewood Elementary School, student safety is our top priority. Recently, we have observed several students playing outside or on the playground without adult supervision during the morning drop-off period. This presents significant safety concerns, as all students must be supervised at all times while on campus.

We kindly ask for your cooperation to ensure a safe environment for all students:

Supervision During Drop-Off

  • Please note that staff are not on duty to supervise students until 7:30 AM. Until that time, our aides are assisting bus riders by getting students off the bus and to the cafeteria.
  • If you prefer your child to play on the playground before school starts, we ask that you remain with them to provide supervision. Students should not be left unattended outside or on the playground at any time.
  • Starting at 7:30 AM, we will have flexibility to assign aides to the sports court, and at 7:40 AM, additional staff (Campbell and Wright) will be available to provide supervision.

Cafeteria and Bus Riders

  • Students who take the bus to school should go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. The cafeteria is a safe and supervised area where they can wait until school begins.
  • For students who are dropped off at the front of the school before 7:30 AM, please ensure they proceed directly to the cafeteria for supervision. Unfortunately, we do not have staff available to supervise the front drop-off area before this time.

These steps are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students. Thank you for working with us to provide a secure and structured environment for everyone in our school community.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please feel free to contact the school office. We appreciate your understanding and support in prioritizing safety for all.
