Friends of Lakewood
FOL is a group consisting of mostly Lakewood Dads dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of the students at Lakewood Elementary School. Started by a handful of Lakewood Dads in the Fall of 1982, FOL has grown into a large, active group of men who engage the students at Lakewood Elementary in many different ways, including hosting the Math Maniacs Program, the Math Olympiad, Fall and Spring Campouts, and an Annual Cornhole Tournament. They also provide support for many different school activities that take place throughout the year including putting on the much anticipated Haunted House at our Fall Festival, helping out with maintenance in the Lakewood Outdoor Learning Area, assisting with Field Day activities, and you can even find them serving as crossing guards during morning carpool!
Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA)
Founded in 1952, the LECPTA is a friendly group of more than 350 area families. Our mission is to enrich the lives of East Dallas neighborhood children by developing relationships among families as well as supporting our local school. Goals of the LECPTA are to offer friendship and support to families in East Dallas, plan programs promoting effective parenting and happy families, and to provide financial support for educational programs, school equipment and supplies for our area schools -- Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long, and Woodrow Wilson High School through proceeds from the Lakewood Home Festival.
